Guillotine

Overview

Expansive floor-to-ceiling openings that glide effortlessly upwards

Vitrocsa's Guillotine system is a vertical sliding window solution that enables expansive floor-to-ceiling openings which glide open effortlessly upwards or downwards. Named for its vertical movement with double or triple glazing, the Guillotine system comprises large glass panels that slide past each other (or a counterweight) to open the entire height.

Key Features

Engineered details that define the system

01

Vertically Panoramic

The Guillotine design opens up multi-storey views and admits light from top to bottom. With no intermediate transoms, you get a continuous glass expanse that, when opened, forms a lofty portal to the outdoors.

02

Heavyweight Capability

Each moving panel can weigh on the order of 500 to 1000 kg (depending on range) and still function effortlessly. The system's counterbalance mechanism and optional motorization are engineered for reliability under extreme loads.

03

Multiple Configurations

Flexibility is built-in — you can have both panels move (meeting in the middle when closed), or one fixed and one mobile, or even multiple stacked panels for very tall openings.

04

Safe and Streamlined

Despite the name, safety is paramount: the system includes fail-safes like braking mechanisms and sensors when motorized, preventing sudden drops.

Finishes

A refined palette of finishes

Every Vitrocsa system is available in a range of finishes to suit your architectural intent — from the signature anodised aluminium to bespoke powder coatings and stainless steel.

Anodised Finishes

Standard EV1 anodised aluminium at 25 microns — the signature Vitrocsa finish, with special anodisation available for a bespoke metallic tone.

Powder Coated Finishes

A large choice of RAL colours, from anthracite grey (RAL 7016) to jet black (RAL 9005), applied as a uniform matte powder coat.

Textured Finishes

Matte, fine-textured effect coatings such as “Moon Dust” (IGP-Effectives® 5903U90070F10) — volcanic ash with the subtle glow of meteorites — adding tactile depth and a refined surface character to the profile.

Bespoke Finishes

Bespoke effect colours from the IGP-Effectives® collection paired with IGP-DURA®one 56 — such as “Terra di Sienna” — alongside brushed stainless steel for a truly custom architectural statement.

Guillotine Window Range

Vitrocsa's Guillotine system is offered in multiple ranges to address different technical requirements. The V56 range achieves the largest glass panels and highest weight capacity. The TH+ range delivers thermal insulation for large vertical sliding panels. The 3001 range is the original, ideal for warm climates.
