Grand Park Hotel Rovinj: Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Hospitality

On the Croatian coast, the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj uses Vitrocsa sliding systems to dissolve the boundary between guest interiors and the Adriatic.

A hotel that opens to the sea

The Grand Park Hotel Rovinj sits on the Croatian coastline, where the Adriatic meets one of the Mediterranean's most picturesque towns. The architects' vision was to create a hotel where guests feel connected to the sea from the moment they enter — not through windows that frame a view, but through openings that dissolve the wall entirely.

The specification

Vitrocsa Sliding systems were specified to achieve this. The ultra-slim 22 mm inter-panel profile ensures that when the glazing is closed, the view of the Adriatic remains uninterrupted. When opened, the panels slide away to create a seamless threshold between interior and exterior — no visible track, no step, no barrier.

The track is recessed flush with the finished floor level, eliminating visible tracks and ensuring unhindered passage between the hotel's interior spaces and its terraces.

Performance in a coastal environment

Coastal locations demand robust weather performance. The Grand Park Hotel faces salt-laden air, high winds, and intense sun. Vitrocsa's marine-grade finishes and robust weather sealing ensure the systems perform reliably in these demanding conditions, with certified wind-load and weather-tightness data supporting the specification.

The guest experience

The result is a hotel where the boundary between inside and outside is architectural rather than physical. Guests move from air-conditioned interiors to open terraces without noticing the transition — exactly the experience the architects intended, and exactly what minimal glazing makes possible.
